Priorities, Primaries, & Pie-fights
Tue Jan 08, 2008 at 08:34:53 AM PDT
With the Iowa caucuses behind us and the New Hampshire primaries occuring today, we're finally getting into the meat of the 2008 Presidential race. You can find multiple diaries on all the candidates. For and against. Democratic and Republican. And all the pie-fights you could ever conjure up in your wildest imagination.
All that energy, passion, time, and treasure directed at whomever is thought to be, for all intents & purposes, the person who will rescue us from the nightmare of the last seven years. Is that fair to the nominee? Is that what it will take to get us 'back on track'?
Perhaps. In part. But, I propose, it's not enough. Not by a long shot.
It's my observation that the massive amounts of effort going into these races is heartfelt by those supporting all the campaigns. But I feel the priorities required to pull the U.S. out of our tailspin goes beyond campaigns & candidates. The horrendous legacy of the Bush Administration should inspire us to look at the bigger picture.
That perspective shows us that not only do we have too many corrupt officials to count, we also have an electorate who has become used to the status quo. We've learned to 'settle' for what's possible instead of what's right & required. Not exactly the America one would be proud of.
I have become convinced that there is only one course that will address the massive and deeply-rooted infection infesting our current government.
Impeachment.
Without restoration of our Constitution, we might as well not vote at all. As it stands now, corporate media and the political 'leadership' is choosing - for you - who will be the next Occupant on Pennsylvania Avenue. And both of those entities are trying their damndest to silence any talk of impeachment hearings. Hearings, mind you. Not even a House vote. And we aren't calling them on it. At least, not vigorously enough. By ignoring or dismissing impeachment, we are abdicating our duties and obligations as citizens under the Constitution.
We spend an incredible amount of bandwith and megabytes howling our misery and indignation to our elected folks and to each other. I propose we step up the volume and add a chorus to the cacaphony. Continue to sing the praises of your favorite candidate and then add the repeating chorus of impeachment to your message.

In doing so, we can not only support our candidate, but we can create & perpetuate the idea that without the Constitution, there would be no need for campaigns. This action also has the added bonus of reminding our candidate that the designers and perpetrators of these treasonous misdeeds cannot walk away from their chaos and suffer no consequences. That is utterly unacceptable and I think we all know that.
Now is the time and opportunity to drive home the message that we demand a return to the rule of law and will accept nothing less!
We have no better time for exercising our Power than right now.
We have no larger platform for making our Will known than right now.
We have no higher Constitutional priority for abiding by that Document than right now.
Let's get the most bang for our buck and bring this vital necessity fully into the Public spotlight! I think we'll be stunned at the fury that will be focused on rooting out the malignancy of this mis-Administration and the determination of The People to set it right.
