One Journalist's Invitation to the Netroots: "I'm up for it if you are."

[Cross-posted at South Shore Progressive and Blue Indiana]

During my time here, I've seen a plethora of diaries railing against the traditional media.  Most of them, I'll concede, are right on target. I've done my own share of bemoaning their shortcomings. Happily, this diary focuses on an opportunity to open a productive dialog with one of their more open minded contributors, Jerry Davich.

I've been writing regularly on this Post-Tribune blog site for a few months now, but I'm still unclear on its promise, potential, and practicality.

Since I'm still a relative newcomer to blogging myself, I'm turning to the seasoned veterans here to help me clarify the power of the NetNation in response to this sincere disclosure.

Although Mr. Davich is focused on Northwest Indiana, I'm sure there are some general pointers and insights that will help expand his understanding.

Still, I'm new to blogging, and new to its inner-workings and behind-the-scenes machinations.

So this entry is my belated disclaimer: Although I've been writing for a living for more than a decade, stringing together tens of thousands of words on a computer screen, I'm still a novice at blogging. My point: If you're a seasoned NWI blogger, feel free to offer me tips, links, or suggestions. [Emphasis mine]

To make things even better, he's not only looking to educate himself, but to be a touchpoint for all bloggers in the area. I applaud Mr. Davich for taking this additional step in promoting the public dialog.

So I'd like to use this entry as a way to help connect NWI bloggers by inviting you to comment below with your name, your blog site, and your niche or focus.

Not only would it educate me, but it could also provide region readers with additional viewpoints on relevant news, issues, and stories. I'm up for it if you are.  [Emphasis mine]

I've already responded to his request and submitted two sites (South Shore Progressive and Blue Indiana). I'm hoping I was able to get these links to him before our 'beloved' Operation Chaos folks chime in....

So, folks, here's your chance to put your money (so to speak) where your mouth is. Let's show Jerry just what the blogosphere is all about!
